When shopping for wardrobe basics, I always look for comfort, style & versatility. It’s essential to invest in a few smart casual basics that you can pair with several different items of clothing to create a new look every time. It’s worth spending a little more on items that you tend to get a lot of wear out of. For example, a classic beige coat that you can wear with your work basics or over a snazzy dress for a night out.
When I popped into the House of Fraser at Dundrum Town Centre last week, I came across Mint Velvet. The trend for animal print has gone into overdrive for S/S ’19. I just couldn’t resist trying on this gorgeous, black & brown, snake print midi dress (€149). It’s a comfortable fit & looks just as good paired with a biker jacket as it does with a beige cardigan. Wear it with hiking boots for a funky look or with heeled mules for chic sophistication.
3. Ink Stripe Wide Leg Trousers
Stripes are always a winner when creating a smart casual look. These high waisted, navy wide leg trousers (€119) are not only comfortable & stylish but also very chic. Here I’ve combined it with an ivory embellished lips tee (€59) also from Mint Velvet. With wide-leg shapes, you’ll always want to balance out the bottom of your outfit with a slim top.
4. Leopard Print Knit Top
Why not express your wild side & keep warm & cosy at the same time? This cute leopard print knit top (€89) does the trick. Perfect to wear underneath a classic beige coat or black biker jacket for relaxed glamour. I paired it with a short red skirt from Oasis to make a sassy statement.
